I smell Summer

Blackhen has been busy recently. Not only have our students sat their exams in various centres across the world, but we are all working behind the scenes on boosting our social media and updating our Units. Time moves fast and we want our tasks to be fresh, relevant and super engaging for all our pupils.

I am writing this from France where Summer has finally arrived following the wettest Spring for ages. Holidays here mean lazy trips to market, long lunches and maybe a nap in the afternoon. Tourism is gentle with many a chateau, museum and gallery to investigate when it’s too hot to be outside. Over the years I have seen a huge effort to include activities for younger people, and I was staggered when our village put QR codes on the information panels!! I used to literally drag my children to cultural places but I think it paid off as they seem to be doing the same with their children now! I remember they loved signing the visitor’s book at every opportunity, and imagine my joy and incredulity when many years later I turned a page in one such volume ( Gaillac Natural History Musée in The Tarn) and there was the signature of my son . A golden moment as our family says.

So, wherever you are, and whatever you are planning for your Summer, have a wonderful break. We all look forward to seeing you again in September and sharing our learning journey.
